San Antonio

Last week I was at a convention in San Antonio. Most of the week was inside the convention center or walking in a mist and with cloudy days. The Tower of the Americas looks like some sort of UFO in the mist.

I stayed in an Airbnb about a mile from the convention center. The owner told me the area was safe even at night. What he forgot to tell me was about the scooters. Walking in the evening is dangerous with all the people scooting around going way too fast plus they like to leave the scooters in the middle of the sidewalks when they are done with them. No pictures of them, but here’s some art in the park.
Thursday was finally a sunny day plus I had an afternoon off. I walked the downtown section of Riverwalk. Boats passed by and the walk was full of people from the conference along with the normal tourists.

While some parts of the walk were quieter.

Here’s the stage from Miss Congeniality, or at least the place it was supposed to be since it seemed bigger in the movie.

I’ve been to San Fernando Cathedral before. Matter of fact, we biked here. Outside on the plaza was a great singer performing for tips. Inside a casket near the front door is supposedly the remains of Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William Travis from the Alamo but no one really knows whose ashes these are.

On a lighter note, at love lock bridge there is a tradition to bring a lock with you and your lover's initials or names on it. The key is thrown in the water to keep your relationship locked together forever. (Though, now as I write this it sounds kind of creepy.)

Tiring week, but I love San Antonio.
