This month was a trip just south of St. Augustine. Faver-Dykes is definitely a quiet state park. It was 3 miles of unpaved road just after a rain, so sand covered our recently cleaned RV. Basically, only campers braved the drive so there was very little traffic. Each campsite was large and surrounded by plants to give great privacy and make us feel we were living in a jungle.
We spent a couple of days doing geocaches which meant we hiked the 3 trails and biked the roads.
The trees were very tall at the park. This is a TALL palm tree (or at least it seemed that way to me).
I was surprised at both the height and the types of trees and plants that were different from what we recently seen at Florida state parks. There were immense walnut trees and bay leaf plants.
There were saw palmettos everywhere. Their suckers normally are underground and look like tree trunks when exposed.
It would have been fun to rent a canoe and see the river creatures. The water is a mixture of salt and fresh water. They say you can see manatees, dolphins, otters, and eagles at various times of the year. Maybe next time?
