Finger Lakes Wine Country

We’re in the Finger Lakes section of New York.  It’s famous for all the wineries in this area.  The views are wonderful of grape vines along the valley and lakes that look like Nessie could rear her head at any time.

Taylor Wines is the big name around here, but there were many smaller vineyards along with a micro-brewery.  We did a tasting at Keuka Brewing (I’m more a beer person than a wine person).  Unfortunately, nothing stood out as amazing.  I have a few more breweries on this trip so maybe I’ll find something new that I like.

One stop included a wine museum.  John liked the cooper section showing all the woodworking skills needed to make a wine barrel.  For some reason he even knew that it takes 21 wood staves to make a barrel.  I liked this contraption.  You strap it on your butt.  As you move from vine to vine you can sit down to pick grapes near the ground without repeatedly moving a chair.

We loved this cork!
