The Smallest Church in America

According to the internet, this church really isn’t the smallest church in America but the signs declare it is. Either way I can’t say I’ve been in a smaller church.  It is a 10 x 15 foot building.   It was a quick stop off the highway (Exit 67 on I-95 in Georgia) in a hidden glen.  The spot was quite beautiful with the Spanish moss and various sculptures.

Back in 1949, Agnes Hopper built the church and put Jesus Christ ‘s name on the deed.  The church has 12 chairs.  Supposedly there is a small congregation and people have been married and baptized here.  One of the weddings had 21 family members.  It was standing room only for that wedding!

It is a quiet place for travelers to stop in any time of the day.  It has a fancier interior than I expected for such a simple small church.  The brochure says the stain glass windows were from England
