Nature on the Space Coast

While this area seems to be all about space, nature is big too. At the space center, we saw several alligators along the road. We saw where feral hogs have really torn up the ground both here and at a local refuge.

This frog was sitting on the rail at the refuge.

A turtle in the water.

A white egret along with several roseate spoonbills. The spoonbills kept moving their bills back and forth in the water getting food.

An young armadillo along the road.

The refuge also had a manatee viewing deck. There were several manatees in the area. They are hard to see from land since most of what you see is just waves and small portions of their body above the water. They only need to surface to breath every few minutes.

Pathos is an easy plant to grow inside. I’ve grown them for years and the vine grows long while the leaves stay around 4” long like the ones on the ground in this picture. But here in Florida the leaves can be over 1.5 feet long (on the tree).
