Bryce to Capitol Reef

The All-American Road Scenic Byway 12 between these parks is well known for the views. There are several pull-outs where you can take pictures.

There are lots of quaking aspen along the way.

We also stopped at Escalante Petrified Forest State Park. We’ve been told that petrified wood can be found in every state. We’ve only been to a couple places including the Petrified Forest National Park and a place in Washington.

This park was pretty good! There is a small section with quite a few different pieces of petrified wood near the parking lot.
And a 50-foot section of a tree. This one was moved here to protect it from people taking pieces of it.

We also hiked a short one-mile trail that took us past more pieces.

And a balancing rock.

BTW, we passed a road called Hole-in-the-Rock. It’s known for great views and fascinating history, but also that the 55-mile road is extremely difficult to travel. There were a couple of cars parked at the end of the road. They were changing a tire on one of the cars after getting a flat. Sounds too rough for us!
