We
bought a house a year ago and have been spending a lot of time fixing it up.
But now we’re leaving for a 2-3 month trip to Michigan/Minnesota area. The last
few weeks have been full of packing, buying stuff, and planning the trip. We
hope to finally see the ball-of-twine that we’ve heard about for years!
It’s
been such a long time since we RVed (is that a verb?) that we’re rusty on the
details. Our start was a bit slow. Before we left the driveway, we had to stop
when I forgot to put away something that should be in an outside compartment. One
turning light was out so we visited the local O’Reilly’s. While John worked on
that in the parking lot, I bought bottled water that I forgot. Then we realized
the propane was shut off (it keeps the refrigerator cool while driving). That
required one stop for a first attempt to turn it on and another stop to turn
the valve off and on several times and then fill the lines to get everything
running again. Things rattled that had to be adjusted. There were four item on
the list of to-do’s for John by we reached the campground and several items
added to the grocery list by morning. Ah, the fun of traveling again!
In
the morning, I had forgotten the joys of walking into a spider web when on a
trail. But I saw a couple of deer along with wildflowers and mushrooms so it
all evened out.
Little
Omculgee State Park in Georgia was nice for camping. The water, however, had an
invasive plant that made it rather “yucky”. They are working on it!
