Errands

We needed to run a bunch of errands that are easy when you live in a house, but not so easy when you are in an RV. First, we needed to cash a few checks. We purposely used Wells Fargo since they are in so many states, but it turns out they aren’t in Arkansas or Oklahoma, so we found a bank in Texas and got that done.

We needed propane. It’s used in the RV to cook, for heat, and to run the refrigerator when we’re not connected to electricity. It just takes some searching to find a place that can fill our propane tanks. Some gas stations have it. This time we found an RV store that sells it.

We need to pick up mail. We have a mail delivery service that will package and ship a bunch of letters to whatever address we tell them. Last couple of times we sent to family & friends before our visit and everything turned out well. This was the first time we tried General Delivery to a post office. Unfortunately, the package didn't arrive so we waited a day to see if it showed up. We needed to buy a lot of groceries, so we decided to spend a night at a Walmart in town. I was also able to do some email in their McDonald's but, let me tell you, McDonald’s wifi might be free but it is EXTREMELY slow. And then, the mail didn't show up the next day. So we are having it forwarded to an address 2 weeks from now. Hopefully there isn't anything important in that mail.

We need to get laundry done. Most RV parks have a laundry and some state parks. Unfortunately, not the state parks we've been visiting. We added a visit to an RV park (Carlsbad RV Park & Campground) to get some laundry done. Plus, we were hoping their wifi is faster than McDonald’s since we hadn't had email for several days. Turns out, it was worse. Before I checked in, I asked if they had wifi and if it was working. They said yes, sure. After I tried for a day to get it to work, they admitted that they had wifi but it didn't work with laptops. What? They refused to let us leave early and refund our money. I asked if other local RV parks had wifi. They told me “no”, no other parks had wifi. Turns out most of them do.  Can you tell I am not happy with their repeated lies? Do not ever use Carlsbad RV Park!!!

You might want to flame them on Trip Avisor so others will know.
