Wind Mills

While we were waiting to see if our mail would catch up with us, we visited the American Wind Power Center in Lubbock Texas. The center has over 100 windmills inside the museum and more working windmills outside including a modern wind turbine that generates power for the building.

Some are small windmills that might do a specific task like pump water for cattle.

Some are large. This one had all types of attachments for grinding, pumping, milling, etc.

Some are mass produced for the farmer or rancher of the early 1900’s. This was a Sears Roebuck that sold for $22.90 in 1908.

Some are new designs.

Some are old designs. While this looks like a Dutch windmill, it’s an English design from the 1600’s. The whole building turned with the wind. The windmill was used to grind wheat or corn.
