Right nearby the Rockhound State Park is a small place called Spring Canyon. There’s a Lover's Leap path that takes you up a fairly sharp incline into the canyon. The path seems to disappear in places and requires getting over rough ground. Coming down is worse since it’s so easy to slick on the loose rock. By the time you get back down, you really feel you’ve accomplished something.
The road to the canyon is interesting too. At one point you crest a hill and just hold your breath waiting for the road to reappear. It’s like riding a roller coaster when you top the hill and can’t see what’s next.
