Texas Tidbits

Texan drivers are crazy.  Not because they drive aggressively, they don't drive any worse than other states, but they are so polite.  Apparently, if you are driving slower than other traffic in Texas, the polite thing to do is to drive on the shoulder of the road so that faster cars can pass.  Many of the roads have large shoulders that makes this easier.  It's probably illegal, but it's the way you're supposed to drive to be polite.  Weird!

We're in Fredericksburg today.  On the way we saw lots of gates.  You know the fancy entrance gates for ranches with names of the ranch on them?  Doesn't matter if it's a small house, but the gates are big and fancy in Texas.

Last night we stayed at a state park.  Very quiet with only a few other campers.  In Ohio, you can frequently see a spider in the park bathrooms when you take a shower.  In Texas it's lizards.  This one was about 4" long.  A bit unsettling, but I can live with it.  (BTW, I brought the camera back to the shower.  I don't normally bring a camera to the shower!)
