Luckenbach Texas

This afternoon we stopped in at Luckenbach Texas.  If you're a country music fan, you've heard of Luckenbach Texas as a song by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.  I'm not a country fan, but I love this place!  Theoretically, it's a town but with a population of 3.  The town has a general store/saloon/former post office along with a dance hall.  That's pretty much it.  The general store has T-shirts, hats, CD's, and other Luckenbach related items.  It's sounds touristy, but it isn't.  Instead, the reason to go to Luckenbach is to sit out back and listen to music.

At 1:00 pm, you can grab a beer, sit down, and relax by listening to free music by regular scheduled musicians or people that just drop in and want to play.  There are people in their 20's and people in their 70's.  There are bikers along with yuppies.  Everyone is there to just relax.  Occasionally big name musicians stop in unannounced and might play for awhile.  Hugh Laurie ("House"), Willie Nelson, and Tanya Tucker have all stopped here.

In the mean time, you can see roosters wandering wherever they want.  At one point a man came in riding a long horn steer.  It's a laid back and unique place!
