Many
of the Parks we visited have had Civilian Conservation Corps (1933-1942)
construction. Gooseberry Falls seems to have more, or maybe it is just that the
construction materials stand out more. The rocks are red granite and dark
gabbro.
Lady
Slipper Lodge is near our campsite and is used for camper church services and local
weddings.
The
water tower contains a 10,000 gallon steel tank.
Even
a pump house is cool!
There
is a section called the Castle. It was originally built as a wall for parking
areas and a great view but the roads have moved so it’s just cool construction.
Near
the outhouse was this shelter with a great view.
And
the picnic tables.
Oh,
and the view with some other picnic tables in the distance.
