All
along the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota are state parks, resorts,
and small tourist towns. It’s a very pretty area. I have to mention that coming
from Lake Vermilion to here was weird. Our drive was on a well-kept 2-lane road
but it was lined only with trees. There were no phone or electric wires, no
cell phone service, no businesses, and almost no cross streets for homes for
around 40 miles. Very much the boondocks!
Anyhow,
we stopped at Iona’s Beach. It’s known for having a pink beach. We were a bit
disappointed at first. The view at the parking lot area was nice, but not very
pink.
Around
the corner was another beach. Mostly pink, but not very large.
But
at the end of the park was the pink beach. Though we felt it was more rose than
pink but who are we to fight on colors?!
Walking
on the stones can be a bit weird. There are points where I felt it sounded
hollow. Pretty interesting beach.
